TAGLS

What is TAGLS?

TAGLS is a stega platform with its own decentralized network for owning digital objects, transferring rights and creating products. At its core is the TAGL: an image that stores encrypted keys and connects users to the objects and shares they own. The network confirms ownership and changes to it; the rights associated with an object are defined by its issuance terms.

TAGLS puts this model of digital ownership into a familiar wallet. Users receive and send Stega Tokens, use digital products, and can transfer or resell rights to them under their issuance terms.

Encrypted wallet keys are held in the user's TAGL on their device. The network verifies transfers and ownership changes while keeping account balances confidential. Owners can provide records for independent verification.

A TAGL: a collectible image and a wallet

A TAGL is a collectible digital object in the form of an image, with a name and a number within its edition. Once activated, it also serves as a wallet.

Invisible by Design describes the use of steganography in TAGL: when viewed normally, the image looks like an ordinary picture and does not reveal that it contains wallet data. Steganography places data inside the image, encryption protects the keys, and the network verifies operations and ownership.

Artists, performers, brands, game studios and other creators can issue TAGLs. An edition can be associated with artwork, an asset passport, a ticket or access to a product. Its issuance terms explain what ownership provides.

Ownership, shares and Stega Tokens

You can own a whole TAGL or a share of one. TAGLS Wallet shows your objects, your share in each and the balances associated with them. A TAGL can be 100% yours even when it contains no TAG or LS liquidity.

TAGL ownership transfer moves all or part of a share to another participant. For simplicity, the wallet calls this a transfer. A Ghost transfer lets a sender pass the recipient a TAGL image containing a specified amount; the recipient opens it in the wallet and claims it. The network records the ownership change. Copying an image alone does not change ownership or balances.

Stega Token describes the technical model. The legal treatment of a token, product or service depends on its characteristics, use and applicable law.

Digital products in a .tagl container

A .tagl file is a container for a digital product. It is distinct from the TAGL wallet image. Creators can package applications, websites, books, music and other content, and define how users access it.

A product can bring demo access, payment and use together in one interface. Its terms can offer full access, individual features or a specified period of use, with selected capabilities paid for using the creator's LS Token. Resale can transfer access to a new owner and provide a commission to the creator under those terms.

The product requests actions through a restricted bridge. A trusted Utility checks the user's rights and permits the allowed actions without sharing the wallet's private keys with the product.

Wallet and identity

TAGLS Wallet manages TAGLs, shares, TAG and other assets. Users can view their holdings and operation history, receive assets and confirm transfers. Utility TAGLs, such as those associated with a game or book, are protected from automatic spending by default to preserve the purchased rights.

Tagl ID handles sign-in and confirmation of information for services. It also supports storing third-party service keys and two-factor authentication. It uses a TAGL too, but serves a different purpose from the wallet. Learn more at id.tagls.com.

Private by default, independently verifiable

Network anchors verify and store records without publicly exposing users' transaction flows. A wallet owner can provide an accountant, law enforcement or an independent auditor with information to check their operations. An auditor can run their own open-source anchor and compare that information with the network's records.

Privacy and independent verification are both part of the architecture.

Protection and recovery

PIN1 opens the wallet; a separate PIN2 confirms payments. Argon2id increases the cost of guessing a PIN, HKDF derives separate keys for different functions, and Split KDF additionally protects access to the payment key. The wallet unlocks encrypted keys locally. TAGLS does not store either PIN or an unencrypted private payment key; the Tagl ID server holds its own secret used in the Split KDF response.

Keep the original PNG and verified backups. Supported wallets offer an optional encrypted backup through Tagl ID. A lost or damaged PNG can be replaced with a saved copy or restored from an enabled backup, but restoring the file does not remove its access requirements. TAGLS cannot reissue your PINs or recovery phrase because it never has them.
